On believing

Brian Loves Jesus — Sat, 06/06/2009 - 20:06

1cor8:2 If anyone imagines that he knows something, he does not yet know as he ought to know.

Still, a friend of mine said once that he believed Jesus had the truth, but that Christians have it wrong. Internally I thought something with some weight, but the Lord has shown me that Christians do have the truth in them. As a prophet you learn some things, one is that you need to be submissive to people and authority, its important, that you work with authority. But two, that you are used to straighten people out and you don't bend the truth to people. The prophetic ministry is the index finger that points, the ring doesn't belong on this finger. If you marry the congregation with your index finger you will distort what God's message is, the ring belongs on the finger that folds around, as much as we would sometimes want to cushion the message, we can't distort what it means.

I don't like doing it, but I don't like going against the truth in my heart either. People complain that things aren't like the 1st century church, but we aren't far from doing it, and I know or heard of plenty of people and communities that have done the same. We really are not any farther from doing it now than they were then, if not a lot closer and with it being a lot more obvious that all other roads fall far shorter than what people expect. We just need to give up the worldly attitudes, wisdom, philosophies, etc... Filter out unbelief. We really can't neglect that its very much about sacrifice, Jesus made it abundantly clear. Its all about love, and the greatest love is sacrifice even of one's own life for one's friends. Don't blindly do it though, act in Love and in His Spirit.
1 Cor 13:3 If I give up all I have, and give up my body to be burned [so that I may boast], but have not Love, I gain nothing

So [Continuing],

  • Aim to be perfect. He who has made it His goal to be perfect, He will serve me says the Lord.
  • Choose to listen only to His spirit, but if its not clear to you from his Word, then listen to council
  • Be humble and obedient to authorities. When Jesus was asked to leave he left, when he was put a cross on His back he carried it even to his own death. This doesn't mean believing or trusting in what they say is the truth if it doesn't resound with you. But be obedient until God clears things out.
  • Wait for the Lord. Keep waiting for the Lord to make things clear as to who is right or wrong
  • Know what spirit you are acting in. And God's Spirit is always going to perservere, so know when you are wrong and repent and change course at once.

I say this because if you are prophetically gifted you will be given not only what encourages people, but also what corrects them and sometimes they don't want to hear the word correction so what we do is exhort. This message came about with a discussion I had with my natural father, and I respect his council but got to the point that there are some points that we have been discussing where he is not on the right track. And even though there are many where he is, there are some points where everyone will seem to be against you, and in the prophetic you will be given the task of being that which condemns peoples actions in the flesh.
